USTAR

The Utah Science Technology and Research initiative (USTAR) is a long-term, state-funded investment to strengthen Utah’s “knowledge economy” and generate high-paying jobs. Funded in March 2006 by the State Legislature, USTAR is based on three program areas. The first area involves funding for strategic investments at the University of Utah and Utah State University to recruit world-class researchers. The second area is to build state-of-the-art interdisciplinary facilities at these institutions for the innovation teams. The third program area involves teams that work with companies and entrepreneurs across the State to promote science, innovation, and commercialization activities. STTR-SBIR

The SBIR/STTR Assistance Program (SSAP) provides full service to any Utah technology business or entrepreneur in all stages of the grant process. From the initial search to the writing and final submission, the professional staff at SSAP is here to assist the business as it requires. Additionally, the SSAP will sponsor training to include seminars and conferences as well as informal networking lunches to familiarize Utahns technology businesses on the basics.

US Commercial Services - Export Assistance Center

The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion unit of the International Trade Administration. The U.S. Commercial Service helps U.S. companies export and protects American business interests abroad, and operates a seamless worldwide network of offices in 109 U.S. cities and at U.S. embassies and consulates in 80 countries.

MEP (Manufacturing Extension Partnership

The MEP is client-needs driven (not products-offered driven). Working directly with company management, MEP provides solutions as diverse as sales and marketing, product defect cause analysis, plant layout, technology deployment, and more.

PTAC (Procurement Training Assistant Centers)

The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is a program of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. PTAC provides assistance to small businesses in obtaining federal, state and local contracts. Services include a Bid Match system that searches many bid resources throughout the nation and matches contracting opportunities to our clients. In addition, PTAC holds workshops throughout the year on various government contracting issues, sponsors networking events, provides assistance with certifications, such as disabled veteran-owned, minority-owned, or woman-owned business status, assistance in selling through the General Services Administration (GSA), marketing assistance, one-on-one counseling, assistance with required registrations, teaming arrangements, mentor-protégé and other partnership opportunities, help with contract proposals and assistance in obtaining specs and standards, procurement histories and pricing data. PTAC services are free of charge. GOED and PTAC sponsor an annual Procurement Symposium that includes valuable training and a reverse trade show. In addition, PTAC has an arrangement with a consulting firm, Logistic Specialties, Inc., to provide special services to our clients.
