Mark Poole oversees the custom and corporate partnership program which offers specialized training services for medium to large companies in Salt Lake County and Utah and he is responsible for the Global Corporate College initiatives. Mark graduated from Utah State University in 1995 with his master’s degree in Business Writing. He has worked in development and operations for many years. His specialty is increasing sales and improving operations through training, coaching, marketing and strategic planning. Mark’s experience also includes customer service and quality assurance expertise that he applies to Corporate Solutions customer care philosophy.

Kay Carter

Kay Carter has been with Salt Lake Community College for 3 years. She currently works with our Corporate Training Team as the CAD coordinator. Kay earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Utah and worked for Marriott Hotels in Human Resources for eight years. While living in New Mexico, Kay worked as a Technical Writer for the Department of Energy at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. Before joining the college, Kay worked for Jordan School District in Student Intervention Services mentoring children ages 5 to 18 in foster care.

Daryl Thompson manages and develops SLCC’s Composite Program. Daryl brings over twenty years of experience in the composite industry to SLCC. With experience in the Marine, Automotive and Aerospace industry, Daryl brings a vast amount of knowledge to the composite students. SLCC has a “state-of-the-art” composite lab facility at their Meadowbrook location where students and industry work together advancing their respective knowledge. Daryl spearheads a collaboration with a Department of Labor grant that supports training technicians for the rapidly expanding composites industry.

With over 15 years of higher education experience, Susana Chaffos offers training solutions designed and delivered through Salt Lake Community College and community resources. Susana’s expertise focuses on finding just the right training for company workforce development needs. She specializes in building programs that involve blended learning delivery methods and that can meet the needs of both large and small businesses.
Shannon Strickland

Shannon Strickland has focused his 20-year career in training, development and project and operations management. His graduate studies in the area of Adult Education furthered his interest in adult learning methodologies and the successes that occur when people are engaged and properly trained. Shannon’s training, operations, and project management experience and his Spanish skills allow him to help companies refine their business processes, saving substantial time and money. Shannon enjoys helping companies take advantage of the training resources offered by Salt Lake Community College’s Custom Fit Training program.

Joan attended Utah State University and has been employed by the Salt Lake Community College for 25 years. As faculty, she coordinated and instructed an Office Information Systems program at the Tooele Center for 20 years. She also acted as an employment counselor and during this time she received a Teaching Excellence award from Salt Lake Community College. For the past five years Joan has worked as a Corporate Solutions Custom Fit Specialist in Tooele County assisting businesses with employee training programs.

Donna graduated from the University of Utah, with honors, where she earned a degree in History with an emphasis in South Asia and Spanish. She is a member of Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. Donna offers experience in for-profit organizations, education and sales. She worked as a manager of a trucking company where she developed and managed operations, established new accounts and expanded the company into a profitable organization. Her experience includes administration in healthcare, sales and in education, teaching, training and working with high-risk students. Donna has been involved in numerous community service activities such as developing and directing a youth community program, serving as Exchange Director and as a member of Friendship Force International. As Corporate Solution’s STIT Coordinator, Donna works with individuals and companies to match training programs with job opportunities.

Anita Oleksy has been with the College just over 10 years starting in the Work Study program. She has coordinated the Safety Inspection and Applied Emissions program for ten years. Anita has developed good customer service systems to ensure trainees receive the best training possible. Anita includes in her job researching and ensuring quality improvement processes. She enjoys working with state and county agencies associated with her program.
Joe Fox

Joe Fox has worked for a number of successful Utah companies since his graduation from Utah State University. He was one of the first 100 hired when Fidelity Investments came to Utah. As Sales Director, Joe helped Fatpipe Networks get to “the 6th fastest growing company in Utah in 2004.” He also worked at Strata, a 3d graphics company in St George, where he helped grow their technical and training department with seminars, videos and a workbook. His technical, sales and constituent relationship management expertise supports the every-growing demand for workforce training within the programs he manages.
